WGC 2022 to kick off on May 23...participated by leading domestic and foreign companies

The 2022 World Gas Conference Daegu (WGC) is to be held on May 23-27, attended by global business people and representatives from international organizations and various governments.

According to Daegu-si on May 22, officials from leading energy companies will visit Daegu, including Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Cheniere, Tellurian, Emerson of the USA, BP Group, Shell, and Qatar Gas of the UK, and Unifer of Germany.

Total Energies of France, Woodside Energy of Australia, Mitsubishi of Japan, LNG of Oman, Petronas of Malaysia, and GAIL of India will be also participating.

From Korea, the Korea Gas Corporation, the Korea National Oil Corporation, Daesung Energy, SK E&S, Hyundai Motors, and Doosan Fuel Cell will be participating.

The General Assembly will be attended by the UN's 8th Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Vice President Li Yalan of International Gas Union (IGU), Senior VP Mark Brownstein of Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Secretary General Joseph McMonigle of International Energy Forum (IEF), Secretary General Lim Ki-tack of International Maritime Organization (IMO), Global Director Demetrios Papathanasiou of the World Bank, CEO & Managing Director James Rockall of World LPG Association will be present.

In addition, distinguished professors including Professor Jonathan Stern, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Natural Gas Research Programme, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, and Michael Stoppard, Global Gas Strategy Lead & Special Advisor of S&P Global will participate in various session.

The WGC is the most recognized private-sector international conference in the gas field, held every 3 years, dealing with the latest issues in the energy area including energy security, climate change, carbon neutrality, and renewable energy. It is the 3rd conference to be held in Asia, following Japan and Malaysia. About 130 domestic and foreign companies will be operating exhibition booths. Following the welcoming event on May 23, the opening ceremony on May 23, conferences and exhibition on May 23-27 and technical tour (visit to industrial sites) are prepared.
