The Science Ministry and Daegu-si Join Hands for 'Digital Innovation'

The Ministry of Science and ICT is to partner with Daegu Metropolitan City to implement the national agenda, ' To elevate the country's digital competitiveness by accelerating digital integration and innovation by region and sector.'

The Science Ministry and the city will jointly carry out a cooperative project to prop up one of the President's campaign pledges for Daegu, which is 'to form a hub city for the future digital data industry,' along with the administration's national agenda.

First, a preliminary feasibility project regarding AI such as establishing the softwear stadium Daegu as well as the national data hub center will be carried out on the basis of the digital economy's core technology, ABB - which stands for Artificial Intelligence(AI), Big Data and Blockchain.

In doing so, led by the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency(DIP), KRW 2.2 trillion worth of eight projects in the ABB sectors will be pushed forward. In line with that, the Science Ministry supports the elevation of the project's plan such as the feasibility study through consulting with the National IT Industry Promotion Agency(NIPA).

Second Vice Minister Park said, "we will continue to cooperate with Daegu-si with an aim to build a region-led digital ecosystem and to support various projects."

Meanwhile, Mayor Hong stated, "for Daegu's upcoming five decades, it is an opportune moment to reshape the city's industry map," adding, "starting from today, we will foster transforming Daegu into a leading city in the ABB industry.
