According to Newsis,

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on Sep. 27 that it will run a program named 'First Step for Patriotism, Love for Taeguekgi' in order to let students realize how valuable the national flag is.

The Office will distribute the flags to 1,400 students in 29 schools - elementary and middle schools that participate in experience programs under the Daegu Democratic Citizen Education Center and Global Citizen Education Center - and teach them how to hoist the flag.

Also, the programs are prepared to celebrate holidays in October - Armed Forced Day, National Foundation Day, and Hangul Day.

The Daegu Democratic Citizen Education Center will have students go on a field trip to Danchoong-sa and a history-themed alley and let them think of Taegeukgi's historical meaning.

On the other hand, the Global Citizen Education Center will give students opportunities of learning about the national flag to keep their love for the country.

Furthermore, both centers prepared an event to send souvenirs to 200 random students who posted their thoughts or pictures regarding the program on the site informed by the Office, until Oct. 7.

"We will continue to run such programs so that students can realize how precious the flag and the country and also partner with the households," the head of the Office, Kang Eun-hee said.
