On Oct. 12, Sangjju Mayor Kang Young-seok met with Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo to debate the Daegu military facilities' integrated relocation.

Regarding the matter, Mayor Kang explained the validity of transferring the facilities to Sangju-si. In particular, he expressed the city's strong will for the integrated relocation of military facilities in the region.

Going forward, both cities agreed to cooperate closely in overall matters such as reviewing the land before the relocation.

Last month, Sangju-si unveiled its intention to relocate the facilities and pushed forward the plan, focusing on the proposal.

"For the sake of the regional economic vitalization, we will pour all efforts to relocate military and civilian co-existing complex town," Mayor Kang said.

There are four Korean army troops in the urban area that are subject to/under Daegu's transfer plan.

In addition to Sangju, Chilgok, Youngcheon and other regions are also vying for relocation.
