Daegu-si announced on September 14 that its delegation, including Daegu-si Vice Mayor, visited Milan, an Italian sister city. The visit was initiated to discuss expanding overall cooperation in the economy, industry, and culture and arts sectors, including strengthening cooperation and exchanges in the textile and fashion industry.

Daegu-si proposed enhanced cooperation on the culture and art fields, including the future new industry, to take the cooperation with Milan to the next level, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the sisterhood relationship between the two cities in 2025

Milan is the second-largest city, accounting for 20% of Italy's GDP, and is recently strengthening innovation in future industries such as mobility, robots, and bio, and is expected to offer a range of potential areas for cooperation thanks to its industrial structure that is similar to Daegu's, in that the city is focused on SMEs.

The delegation's main schedule was to visit the Linea Pelle exhibition hall showroom on September 12, the first day in Milan, and to discuss exchange exhibition between the 2024 Preview In Daegu and the Linia Pelle Fair.

Then the delegation visited Milan City Hall to meet with Milan Vice Mayor, introduced Daegu's textile and fashion industry and five new future industries, and discussed on how to cooperate in fostering future talent and preparing the events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the sisterhood in 2025.

The delegation also visited the Milano Fashion Institute (MFI), a professional educational institution established by the Italian National Fashion Association, and signed an MOU on participation in fashion industry talent training programs and enhanced cooperation in research activities.

On September 13, the delegation visited Limonta S.p.A, a global textile and fashion material company that develops and supplies a range of textiles, from automotive fabrics to luxury fashion materials, to ponder the ways to foster and cooperate with local textile and fashion material companies.

The delegation also visited D-HOUSE Lab, a research institute in the textile fashion industry, to examine the development process of materials and advanced manufacturing technologies in the textile fashion field and to discuss ways to nurture cooperation in textile fashion R&D.

On September 14, the delegation visited the Milan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and proposed cooperation measures such as mutual cooperation and joint market development between Milan-based companies and Daegu's local companies through the Daegu Chamber of Commerce.
