According to Yonhap News,

On April 21, Daegu-si announced that it has been selected for 'Building a Foundation for AI Convergence in the Manufacturing Industry' project organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

This project is to lay the foundation for AI convergence specialized for the manufacturing industry, in such ways as strengthening the capabilities of AI developing companies and addressing the pending issues of the manufacturing industry through development and demonstration of AI solution based on manufacturing data.

Five metropolitan governments in the Yeongnam region will jointly push for this project for three years, from this year to 2026, with a total project expense of KRW 45 billion.

AI companies and manufacturing companies participating in the project will be selected through public offering process from next month.

Each local government will support AI technology customized to the demand of companies in order to increase production efficiency of major industries.

An official from Daegu-si said, "AI transformation applied to the industries is critical to the local industrial competitiveness," adding that "we will support AI convergence technology innovation to the extent of being applicable on the industrial sites."
