According to Yonhap News,
ST Labs, a fabless (specializing in semiconductor design) company, has settled in Daegu.
On July 15, Daegu-si announced that ST Labs has established a corporation at the Suseong Alpha City Software Convergence Tech Biz Center in late June.
The CEO of this company is Dr. Kim Young-sik, one of the co-founders of Stratio, a Silicon Valley-based NIR (Near Infrared Radiation) image sensor company.
ST Labs plans to enter the smart home appliance market, among others, based on its sensor technology.
Daegu-si has focused on attracting semiconductor-related companies, establishing R&D infrastructure, and training professionals to foster the semiconductor industry.
The company's CEO said, "Daegu has a good foundation for fabless companies to grow thanks to its abundant manpower in the semiconductor sector."
