According to Newsis,

[Gyeongsan=Newsis] Reporter Park Jun = Daegu University announced on the 27th that it has officially launched the Semiconductor Education Institute, an integrated educational institution dedicated to cultivating professional semiconductor talent.

As an organization directly under the University President, the Semiconductor Education Institute serves as a strategic control tower that integrates and manages key organizations: the 'Next-generation Semiconductor Innovation Convergence University Center' established in March 2021 (for systematic education and research support), the 'Semiconductor Boot Camp Center' established in September 2024 (for field-oriented practical talent training), and the 'DU Next-generation Semiconductor Education Research Center' opened in Daegu Suseong Alpha City in February 2025 (a hub for regional-industry-academia cooperation).

Professor Kim Kyung-ki of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Daegu University, who was recently elected as the 2026 Senior Vice President (President-elect) of the Institute of Semiconductor Engineers (ISE), has been appointed as the inaugural Director.

Director Kim is an authority in the fields of low-power digital circuits and AI semiconductor design, and is expected to maximize synergy between his academic leadership and the operation of the education institute.

Director Kim Kyung-ki stated, "The establishment of the Semiconductor Education Institute allows for the operation of an advanced curriculum that organically links academic foundations with industrial demands by integrating previously dispersed project groups and centers." He added, "Based on close industry-academia cooperation with the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regional communities, we will do our best to become a pivotal institution for cultivating practical talent that contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the national semiconductor industry as a whole."
