Specifically, the city will establish advanced validation infrastructure, including ultra-high-speed communication networks (5G and satellite communications), data hubs, and artificial intelligence (AI) computing resources.

It also plans to demonstrate citizen-centric smart city services, such as domestic on-device AI-based advanced administrative support, CCTV smart control systems, and robotic guide dogs.

Leveraging regulatory exemptions and regulatory sandboxes under the 'Act on the Promotion of Smart City Development and Industry', the city will foster an environment where enterprises can freely validate and commercialize new technologies. Based on this foundation, an enterprise growth support framework will be established to connect technical development, validation, commercialization, and investment attraction.

In the future, the city aims to build a core hub for the smart city industrial ecosystem by linking this initiative with regional AX (AI Transformation) innovation technology development projects, the construction of the DGIST Global Campus, the AI Robot Global Innovation Zone, and the National Robot Test Field.

Furthermore, it will pursue the attraction of innovative companies, expansion of investments, acceleration of technology commercialization, and creation of high-quality jobs.

Jeong Ui-gwan, Head of the Future Innovation & Growth Bureau of Daegu Metropolitan City, stated, "The Smart City Specialized Zone will serve as a new innovation platform that goes beyond technology validation to drive corporate growth and enhance industrial competitiveness."
