According to Yonhap News,

Daegu Wholesale Market for Agricultural and Marine Products has shown continual growth momentum.

According to Daegu City on January 7th, agricultural and marine products worth KRW 738.1 billion were sold last year despite the economic downturn, a 22.6% increase from 2009.

However, the production volume of agricultural and marine products has decreased because of erratic weather conditions by 0.7% (3,592 tons) to 511,729 tons from last year.

The City said that the growth is thanks to increased new customers, more services provided to shippers, expanded sales incentives for commission merchants, strengthened safety test, education for people working in the distribution.

An official of the market said “we will advance the distribution of agricultural and marine products by strengthening the marketing capacity and establishing transparent and efficient transaction.”
