According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju Technopark (President Yu Dong-guk) and Daegu Technopark (President Lee Joung-seop) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to vitalize an inter-regional inland belt at a conference hall on the third floor of Gwangju Technopark on April 7th.

The two organizations plan to jointly push forward national projects to boost the inter-regional inland belt, devise cooperative measures regarding R&D special zones in Gwangju and Daegu, develop policies for shared growth of the two regions, and suggest those policies to the central government.

Also, the two technoparks will cooperate with universities and research institutes in Gwangju and Daegu to aggressively implement joint projects and win national projects.

Gwangju and Daegu are currently engaged in a total of four projects worth KRW 1.5 trillion: the promotion of the 3D convergence industry, the industrial laser industry, the dental materials and components industry, and the knowledge service industry.

President Yu Dong-guk of Gwangju Technopark said “it holds significant meaning that Gwangju Technopark and Daegu Technopark, core organizations in industrial planning, signed an MOU, considering the major trend in the government’s regional industry promotion,” and added “we will take practical measures to vitalize the inter-regional inland belt connecting Gwangju and Daegu by establishing a task force designated to identifying new projects.”
