According to Yonhap News,

The French embassy in Korea has been very aggressive in supporting its domestic companies that participate in the 10th Daegu International Optical Show (DIOPS 2011).

Lunettes de France plans to set up a hall for French companies in the size of 100m2 at DIOPS 2011, which will be opened at EXCO, Daegu on April 27th, and expects ten French companies will occupy the space.

It is the first time that that several high-end eyewear brands of France take part in DIOPS. They plan to introduce their products and search for distribution partners such as department stores, shops selling multiple import brands, and duty-free shops.

Officials of SILMO, a business forum for the optics and eyewear sector, will visit the exhibition, showing their high interest in venturing into the Asian market.

The French embassy in Korea distributed two press releases, noting the status of participating French companies and requested the media to run articles about them.

The embassy plans to dispatch its employees in the economy and commerce division during the three-day event to support trade consultations of French companies.

It has been known that the French embassy has a team related to SILMO to identify current conditions of the eyewear businesses of its country and encourage the participation in the exhibition by publishing promotional materials, providing support for the marketing of the optics and eyewear industry.

Korean companies in the sector say they would like to receive similar support from the Korean government, when they strive to attract buyers or participate in foreign exhibitions.

Korea Optical Industry Support Center CEO Son Jin-yeong said “it is very desirable that an embassy, which has abundant information on the market trend of the sojourn country, aggressively cooperate with the marketing activities.”
