Exports hit a three-month high in Daegu.
According to the Korea International Trade Association(KITA), exports in Daegu increased 23.7% year-on-year to USD 552 million.
This is a record increase for the 3rd straight month on a year-on-year basis, following March's 32.2% and April's 21.5% increase.
By goods, exports of auto parts led the increase, rising by 47.4% to USD 73 million. Lighting equipment became the top 3 export items as the exports to Poland.
By region, outbound shipments to Japan increase 4 months in a row.
An official from KITA said "exports to Japan surged 143.5% year-on-year due to the Japanese earthquake despite shorter working days in May.
Imports in the region also increased by 30.6% year-on-year to USD 324 million, hitting a record high.
Last month's exports and imports in North Gyeongsang Province rose by 23.2% and 30.5%, respectively to about USD 4.3 billion and 1.9 billion.
