According to Yonhap News,

Exports of textiles in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province increased 12.7% year-on-year to USD 281.70 million in May, according to Korea Textile Development Institute(KTDI),

Textile exports have increased from November 2009. In January, the exports increased 28.5% year-on-year, followed by 15.2% in February, 24.7% in March, 11.9% in April.

From Jaunary to May this year, textile exports have totaled USD 1.35 billion, 18.1% up from last year.

By item, the exports of polyester fiber was the largest (USD 72.5 million), followed by knitwear(USD 32 million), cotton(USD 11.60 million) and nylon(USD 63 million).

KTDI said that R&D of the local textile industry, marketing activities and investment in production facilities led to the export boom despite sluggish economy home and abroad.
