According to Yonhap News,

The 2012 Daegu International Textile Expo (Preview In Daegu, PID) and Daegu Collection are scheduled to open in March 7 to promote Daegu's enhancing status and boost exports in the textile and fashion sectors.

The PID Organization Committee said on February 29 that 322 companies from 10 countries will participate in the Daegu Expo for three days.

With the 11th anniversary of its opening, the Expo is expected to draw about 20,000 participants including foreign buyers from 20 countries.

What makes this year's event more special is that textile leaders including Japan and Italy have decided to participate in the exhibition. Plus, Korea's conclusion of FTAs with the U.S. and Europe will lower tariffs on textiles and fashion.

The committee is aiming at providing consulting services on exports worth $150 million and concluding contracts worth $65 million through the Expo.

It is also planning to operate organic textile dying and fashion painting experience centers and launch fashion shows and exhibitions.

The Korea Fashion Industrial Research Institute will organize 10 fashion shows from March 7 to 9 and the 24th Daegu Collection.

The collection will show clothes made by 15 designers including Hanbok (traditional Korean clothes) designers.
