Daegu Convention Bureau attracted a total 70 international events this year including the Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine International Society 2014 Asia Pacific Meeting (TERMIS-AP) and the Asia Pacific Chapter Meeting of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis 2015 (APCM-ISPD), according to Daegu-si (City).

This year the city is aiming at increasing the figure 14.3 percent to 80.

To that end, it will concentrate efforts on boosting the MICE industry by organizing specialized conventions in connection with its regional major industries including textile and fashion, robot and automobile components and attracting international conferences and meetings. The MICE industry refers to a high-added value knowledge-based service industry combining meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions.

The city will continue to provide one-stop services on transportation, accommodations, tourism and shopping to groups seeking to participate in MICEs via Daegu MICE and Tourism Promotion Center that opened in November.

“We will elevate our status into a MICE industrial hub via specialized one-stop services,” said a Daegu official.
