According to Yonhap News,

On March 8, the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) will start constructing a new company building in the Daegu innovation city.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be joined by 300 people, including Mayor Kim Beom-il of Daegu Metropolitan City, President Lee Ki-sub of KEIT, and local residents.

The institute has planned to establish a new building, equipped with one basement floor and five ground floors, in a 11,500㎡ site, with investment of KRW 40.3 billion.

The new building will adopt the most advanced high-speed information and technology as well as the 1st grade energy efficiency technology, which can dramatically reduce energy consumption.

KEIT is an affiliate of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy that plans, evaluates, and manages national research and development (R&D) projects. It executes an annual budget of KRW 2 trillion, 13 percent of the government’s R&D investment.

11 public organizations will move into the Daegu innovation city, where a cutting-edge medical district and a special medical R&D district are being built.

Mayor Kim Beom-il said, “Following the Central Physical Examination Agency’s transfer last year, three public organizations, including the Korea Education and Research Information Service, will move into the city this year. We will do our utmost to complete the transfer of 11 organizations by 2014.”
