The Daegu Convention and Visitors Bureau celebrates its 10th anniversary and holds the second Daegu MICE day today.
The Daegu MICE Day, held for the second time this year, takes a look at Daegu’s convention industry and history of the bureau with Daegu MICE companies and North Gyeongsang Province, university professors, university students and the media.
The event will serve as an opportunity to state Daegu’s vision for the MICE industry for next 10 years and discuss the future direction.
A program director of JTBC Joo Chul-hwan and Professor Seo Kyung-duk, a promotion expert, will make the opening remarks.
The Daegu Convention and Visitors Bureau was established in 2003 as Korea’s the first international meeting organization and attracted and supported major international meetings including the 2012 International Congress of Entomology, 2012 International Biotechnology Symposium and Exhibition, 2013 World Energy Congress and 2015 World Water Forum.
Over the last ten years, the bureau attracted and hosted many international meeting related to regional industries and academic research including energy, engineering, natural science and medicine to largely contribute to advancement of the region and globalization of Daegu.
It successfully attracted 70 conventions last year.
Ahn Kuk-jung, head of the Economy and Trade Bureau of Daegu noted that the Daegu Convention Bureau has been a pioneer of Korean convention industry, adding that the city will endeavor to strengthen on- and offline MICE services to lay the foundation for development of the industry in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province.
