Daegu Mayor Meets Former President of Philippines

Daegu mayor Kim Bum-il met former President of Philippines Fidel Valdez Ramos last week to who attended an event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korean War armistice, hosted by the Korean government.

They also attended an international academic seminar on the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.

Several government officials and the Philippine Ambassador to Korea accompanied Mayor Kim and President Ramos to the meeting and seminar.

They exchanged their views on the significance of the Korean War and Korea’s development path since the aftermath.

Mayor Kim expressed his gratitude to former president for his visit despite busy schedule and sent condolence to those who were sacrificed during the war. He also stressed regional development with United Nations member countries which fought for Korea.

Philippines sent a ground force of 7,420 troops during the Korean War. Former president Lamos is a veteran of the Korean War.

Former President of Philippines Ramos also gave an opening speech at the international academic seminar on the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.
