The 33th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants and POPs (DIOXIN 2013) will be held for three days this week in Daegu.
With the history of 30 years, the DIOXIN 2013 is a globally recognized event.
Daegu was finalized to hold the 33th event competing against Madrid, Spain and Milano, Italy in 2009.
About 1,000 experts from around 40 countries present their research results every year.
The DOIXIN 2013 is hosted by the International Dioxin Symposia Korea Chapter and sponsored by Daegu city and the Catholic University of Daegu.
Environmental pollutant experts will present about 270 papers on 42 topics through 48 sessions.
Awards will also be given to outstanding student papers.
The event will also serve as an opportunity to build a network with foreign buyers to attract invest in regional companies as DIOXIN 2013 also hold an exhibition of environmental pollutant-related companies’ products and technology.
Domestic and international participants will also have a chance to participate in various tour programs that visit Donghwasa Gyeongju Yangdong Village.
Daegu mayor Kim Bum-il noted that the event is expected to facilitate information exchanges among experts around the world and facilitate related research and industrial development.
