WEC 2013 to Be Held in Daegu October

Energy leaders from around the world will participate in the 22nd World Energy Congress (WEC 2013) in Daegu to discuss energy-related issues.

About 230 energy experts and industry insiders around the world will attend the congress, which will be held from October 13 to October 17, to exchange views on oil, natural gas, nuclear energy and new and renewable energy.

The discussion will be focused on fossil fuels, a rapid increase in electricity demand and climate change.

Energy security, counterplans for Fukushima accident, electricity transmission system and technological innovation will also be examined.

Chair of the WEC Daegu 2013 Organizing Committee Choi Hwan-eik noted that the congress will contribute to draw a future strategic energy roadmap and find innovative electricity generation measures.

The World Energy Congress is held every three years and hosted by the World Energy Council which has about 3,000 members from 92 countries.

Celebrating its 22nd anniversary, the congress will be held under the theme of Securing Tomorrow’s Energy Today.
