Daegu Environmental Office Provides Consulting Service to Prevent Biz’s Losses

(BUSAN = Newsis) The Daegu Environmental Office announced on 18 December that its “environmental location consultation service initiative” prevented an investment loss of KRW 8.9 billion in 2013.
The initiative was designed to examine the suitability of locations for the businesses in advance to prevent any investment losses in case the land that business purchased for development was not granted permission to use due to environmental reasons.
A total of 45 consultations were carried out and 33 of them were possibly conflict with the laws and regulations, and advised businesses to reconsider its business plans or find substitute lands.
Among 33 cases, 30 were considered to have large damages on the local landscapes and vegetation, and three were conflicted with the relevant laws and regulations.
The consultations were able to prevent massive investment losses of KRW 8.9 billion and 3,960 days of potential lost time for businesses.
The Daegu Environmental Office also set up a consulting center in the division of environmental analysis in a bid to expand the scope of activities of its existing location counseling service.
