According to Yonhap News,

(DAEGU = Yonhap News) The city of Daegu opened an intelligent auto parts testing center that was built based on intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

The city and the intelligent auto parts promotion agency invested a total of KRW 97.5 billion to build a 394,545m2 auto part testing center in Guji-myeon in Dalseong-gun. The completion ceremony for the center was held the last Wednesday.

The purpose of building the testing center is to secure leading technologies in the smart vehicle industry and enhance competitiveness of the auto parts industry of Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions.

The city said that the testing center will enable auto parts manufacturers to use the testing center more conveniently at a lower price, and this will greatly contribute to the development of the intelligent auto parts industry.

The testing center tests, evaluates and certifies the reliability of auto parts and systems that meet the relevant standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The testing center comprises a 240km high speed circuit and other special roads and systems to test various auto parts.

High technologies such as DSRC, wireless network and wave technology were also introduced to develop a state-of-the-art ITS.

“The testing center will form an auto parts cluster that supports the research institutes and auto parts manufacturers near the Technopolis,” said Kim Bum-il, Mayor of Daegu. “We also expect that the center will help the city attract more auto parts manufacturers and develop the future auto parts.”
