According to Yonhap News,

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Scott Wightman, the British Ambassador to Korea, discussed ways to carry out economic exchanges and cooperation with Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin and North Gyeongsang Province Governor Kim Kwan-yong on August 5.

Mayor Kwon expressed his interest in cooperating with the United Kingdom in sectors including culture, arts, education and economy and said, “It has been 130 years since Korea and the United Kingdom established diplomatic relations but the exchanges between local governments are very small.”

"It is not arguable that the exchanges between local governments are insufficient. I will look for British cities that can cooperate with Daegu. It would be a good idea for Daegu to attend a medical conference that will be held in October," said Ambassador Wightman.

Ambassador Wightman also shared ideas on investment cooperation between North Gyeongsang Province and the United Kingdom with Governor Kim.

Governor Kim emphasized the fact that the United Kingdom is North Gyeongsang Province’s the fourth largest exporter in Europe. He also introduced Zincox Korea, a British foreign-invested company in Gyeongju, and asked the Ambassador to encourage British companies to invest in teh Province.

Ambassador Wightman stated that the British Embassy is fully ready to support many excellent British companies to invest in North Gyeongsang Province.
