(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin held a press conference and announced his plans for the city on January 5.

The city will complete the administrative procedure to establish a creative economy zone to achieve economic innovation by the end of January and develop the site for the relocation of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office.

It will also strive to boost the bases of new growth including the High-Tech Medical Complex and the Innovation City and the Suseong Medical Zone, attract domestic and foreign blue chip companies and protect and nurture local businesses.

The city will also do its utmost to successfully host the 7th World Water Forum in April, carry out site validity for the construction of a new port in the southern region and the opening of urban railway line 3.

"We will set 2015 the first year of the reinvention of Daegu to realize happiness of people and creative Daegu," emphasized Kwon.
