(DAEGU=NEWSIS) Daegu City has been selected as the best city for employment, conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

According to the city on May 20, the city’s total employment in 2014 recorded 64.2 percent, a 1.1 percentage points increase year-on-year. The number of employment insurance holders and regular workers also grew by 3.9 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively.

The Ministry also praised the city’s various projects to support the employment of the youth and baby boomers, nurture skilled workforce through research and development, develop small-sized companies and medium-sized companies and improve the working environment of small-and medium-sized companies.

The youth and elderly employment in 2014 increased by 1.7 percentage points and 1.5 percentage points than that of the previous year, respectively, thanks to the relocation of companie to the Technopolis, High-Tech Medical Complex, Daegu National Industrial Complex and Sinseo Innovation City.
