(ULSAN=Yonhap News) An annual conference of Korean business leaders from around the world wrapped up its three-day session on Sunday, with the participants promising to support the country's small and mid-sized firms and young job seekers.

Co-hosted by Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news service, the annual meeting of the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Association, or World-OKTA, kicked off on Friday in the southeastern port city of Ulsan, attended by about 600 members who are doing business in 70 different countries and 100 cities worldwide.

Many business and political heavyweights including Jeong Kab-yoon, vice speaker for the National Assembly, participated in the closing ceremony.

"The conference successfully helped boost the economy in Ulsan, the biggest industrial city in South Korea, and contributed to the development of the country," Yonhap News Agency President and CEO Park No-hwang said in his closing remark.

The World-OKTA members provided information and consulting services to local entrepreneurs in a bid to help them go overseas and expand exports.

At a job fair, five young Korean people were hired by the member companies.

Established in 1981, the World-OKTA has emerged as a major trading association for Korean businesspeople active in foreign countries, seeking to help strengthen their networks and contribute to the country's economic growth.

The association has currently around 6,600 members and 133 offices in 68 countries, with its head office located in Seoul.
