FDI Status (as of September 2025)

Ulsan attracted USD 16.9 billion foreign direct investment. In 2023, its annual FDI amount set a record-high, attaining USD 1.2 billion.
In particular, investment by the Netherlands, Japan, and Germany account for a large share in major industries in Onsan and Ulsan Mipo National Industrial Complexes.
By industry, investment has focused on Ulsan's major industries including automotive, shipbuilding, and petrochemical industries, with FDI also increasing in future industries including hydrogen energy, secondary battery, offshore wind power, and bio industries.
