(ULSAN=Yonhap News) The Fraunhofer Project Centre for Composites Research opened its Korea office at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) on May 10.

The UNIST office, the first Fraunhofer branch to be established in Korea, will become a global base for the development of parts and materials for reducing the weight of vehicles.

The UNIST office, which will be led by Managing Director Frank Henning of the Fraunhofer Project Centre for Composites Research, will begin with 20 workers.

Ulsan City hopes the Fraunhofer's Korea office to lead the technology advancement of the automobile industry.
