According to Newsis News,
(ULSAN=Newsis News) Ulsan City rolled up their sleeves to build needed infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), following the government's drive to boost the use of environmentally-friendly cars.
The city aims to provide more financial support and expand charging infrastructure in a bid to alleviate burden of EV drivers.
As the first step, the city has been steadily increasing subsidy for EV purchases.
Amount of subsidy given to EV purchases, which was KRW 17 million per vehicle at the beginning of this year and raised to KRW 18.8 million in July, will be further increased to KRW 19 million next year.
More charging stations will be installed as well.
Ulsan newly installed five additional fast charging stations this year, up from previous four. The city plans to install nine more such facilities by year-end and twelve more stations next year.
Issues hindering installation of slow charging stations will be addressed by the municipality as well through consultations with the nation's major mobile carrier and a private company.
Along with such moves, Ulsan City also plans to enact ordinances for charging stations to enforce installation of EV charger at buildings with more than 100 parking units.
