(ULSAN=Yonhap News) Biopharmaceutical company Pharmicell announced November 17 that it has completed construction of new research institute of biochemical division in the Onsan Industrial Complex in ​​Ulju County, Ulsan Metropolitan City.




The pharmaceutical company decided to expand and relocate its plant and research institute in preparation for increase in demand for raw medicine and purchased plant sites in the Onsan Industrial Complex with KRW 5.1 billion won in September last year. Construction work was started in the first quarter of this year.

In the new research center established with 1086.61 square meters of floor space, Pharmicell plans to conduct research and development of raw medicine such as nucleoside, material used in gene diagnosis reagents, and phosphorus-based flame retardant, which inhibits or delays the spread of fire by suppressing the chemical reactions or by forming a protective layer on the surface of a material.

Kim Hyun-soo, CEO of Pharmicell, said, "The new research institute will enable us to take the next leap forward."

The company plans to complete its Ulsan plant in the second half of next year. The Ulsan plant will be built on a land of 9407.3 square meters with 3 floors and 1 underground floor. The company expects its production capacity to double when the plant is fully built.
