(ULSAN=Newsis News) Ulsan City takes on the education of 3D printing professionals in order to facilitate development of the region's ailing shipbuilding and marine industry.
The city announced on 23 December that its manufacturing convergence 3D printing engineer training program was selected in the job creation support project for the shipbuilding industry concentrated area of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Ulsan will train 22 people as 3D printing engineers by investing KRW 150 million. Candidates for the program are unemployed and retired people who previously worked in the shipbuilding industry and recent graduates who studied 3D printing related subjects.
The project will be organized by the Korea Polytechnics Ulsan Campus and supported by the Ulsan ICT Promotion Agency.
Korea Polytechnics Ulsan Campus will be in charge of education and training, while the Ulsan ICT Promotion Agency will support employment and business startup by organizing industry-academy-institute consultative body and performance management.
