(ULSAN=Yonhap News) On February 27, Ulsan Metropolitan City held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new exhibition and convention center in Gyodong-ri, Samnam-myeong, Ulju-gun.
The ceremony was attended by some 400 participants including mayor Kim Gi-hyeon,national assembly members, city council members and other dignitaries.
A total of KRW 167.8 billion will be spent on building the center on a site of 43,000 square meters, and construction is scheduled to end by December 2020.
The city expects the new exhibition and convention center to have a significant impact on revitalizing the local economy, with greater exports and new jobs.
Being built to support its suffering manufacturing industry, the center has been designed to serve as an optimal venue for industry exhibitions.
