On May 10, the city of Ulsan announced it will send a delegation for exchange (led by Bureau of Jobs and Economy Director Park Soon-chul) to Indonesia and Vietnam on May 16, to expand cooperation with the emerging markets of ASEAN and help Korean startups enter Southeast Asia.
In particular, Korean companies received an official invitation from West Java Province to participate in the Coffee Cultural Festival 2018.
In 2015, Ulsan City sent an ODA student volunteer group to Indonesia and has since been working to finalize a friendly-city exchange agreement with West Java Province.
Officials expect this visit will serve as a catalyst for friendship and cooperation between the two cities.
Indonesia recorded an impressive economic growth rate of 5.1% in 2017. The country also has the 4th largest and young population of 260 million.
The delegation will also visit Vietnam to sign a MOU with Saigon Innovation Hub, attend an industry stakeholders meeting with Saigon's municipal government and take part in other activities to support the entry of Korean startups into Vietnamese markets.
