On May 15, Ulsan city published a book called "The Development of Ulsan as Seen Through Statistics from 2017" in order to share its progress since the city's transformation into a metropolitan city.

Ulsan's GRDP was KRW 26.388 trillion in 1998 and reached KRW 71.2364 trillion in 2016, making up 4.4% of Korea's entire GDP.

In 2016, 10,910 people were born, 4,947 people died, 7,600 couples got married and 2,520 couples got divorced throughout the year.

Also, more than 976,000 of the population was older than 15, and 599,000 people were economically active.

Non-economically active people totaled 378,000, meaning 61.3% of the population are economically active.

The amount of water consumed per person, per day, was 292ℓ, which was much lower than in 1997 (360ℓ).
