(ULSAN=Yonhap News) From May 17 to 20, Ulsan's sister city Portland visited Ulsan City to participate in the rose festival and discuss business agreements.
Portland's delegation was made up of 5 people including Portland-Ulsan Sister City Council Jane Mauk, Kathy Fastenau and Royal Rosarians, official ambassadors for Portland's rose festival.
The delegation visited Ulsan Museum on the first day of the visit and held discussed potential areas for cooperation over exchanges and exhibitions.
On May 18, the delegation visited SK Energy's Ulsan Complex and the country's largest pottery trading center. Then, they took part in the opening ceremony of the rose festival as well as the parade.
On the last day of the visit, the delegation visited Taehwagang Grand Park, scheduled to be designated as the National Garden No. 2, and major sites in Ulsan including Taehwaroo and Daewangam Park.
Ulsan and Portland became sister cities in 1987.
Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the relationship and the major of Ulsan, Portland rose festival organizers and cultural exchange groups visited the U.S.
The two cities cooperate for not only the rose festival but conduct exchanges in various fields such as art.
For the two cities' 35th anniversary in 2022, Portland Museum and Ulsan Museum are planning an exchange exhibition.
