According to Yonhap News,
(ULSAN=Yonhap News) On May 31, Japanese chemicals company Kuraray held an opening ceremony for the expansion of its high-end automobile glass PVB film plant at Kuraray Korea in Namgu, Ulsan.
PVB(Polyvinyl Butyral) is a chemical material used to manufacture film used for construction and automotive safety glass.
The newly-opened plant will produce acoustic PVB, with reinforced safety functions and noise prevention to keep glass fragments from flying away in the case of the glass breaking. The futuristic, high value-added material is especially suitable for luxury cars.
Kuraray invested USD 50 million to build the high value-added film factory as part of its plan to foster Ulsan's factory as the PVB film manufacturing base for Asian markets.
The addition of new lines in the factory is projected to increase sales by KRW 590 billion from 2018 to 2024. About 30 new jobs will be created as a direct result of the expansion and an additional 3236 new jobs will be created indirectly over the next 7 years.
Kuraray is a global chemicals company that supplies companies in various industries including automotive, textiles and medical equipment.
The company has the largest global market share for products such as PVA(Polyvinyl alcohol), PVA film for optics, EVAL (open cutting resin) used as food packaging materials, PVA fiber (KURARON) and artificial leather (CLARINO).
