(ULSAN=Yonhap News) There are more foreign tourists visiting Ulsan, and their duration of stay in getting longer.

As of the end of June, the number of tourists in Ulsan was 27,167, according to the analysis of the status of tourists in 18H1 (incentive-supported travel agencies) conducted by travel agencies in Ulsan.

This is up 150% from last year's 18,107.

The number of foreign tourists totaled 7,953, up 267% from last year's 2,979 visitors.

The number of Taiwanese tourists increased from 1,166 to 6,532 YoY and the number of Hong Kong tourists increased from 0 to 584, each showing a 5 to 6 fold increase.

As far as the duration of stay goes, in 2017, 233 tourists took part in day trips and 2,746 tourists came for 2 day packages. In 2018, 1,868 people took part in day trips, 5,266 for 2 day trips and 819 visitors came for 3 day trips.

Korean tourists also increased from 15,128 in 2017 to 19,214 in 2018, a 127% increase YoY.

Improvements in hotel infrastructure, which was one of the factors that impeded stay in Korea, was a positive factor in the increased number of tourists.

In Ulsan, 4 more hotels (662 rooms) including Stars Hotel opened this year and the number of hotel rooms increased from 1,624 rooms to 2,286 rooms in the last year.
