According to the data, foreign tourist visits in 2018 totaled 52,320, up 54.2 percent (18,382) from the previous year's 33,938.

The number of foreigners amounted to 25,618, over 3 times higher than 7,514 in 2017.

Domestic tourists amounted to 26,702, a slight increase from the previous year's 26,424.

By nationality, Taiwanese (4,788→21,075) and Hong Kong (53→2,490) tourist visits grew the most.

In 2017, 483 stayed for one day, 5,712 for two days and 1,319 for more than 3 days. In 2018, 967 stayed for one day, 22,398 for two days and 274 for 3 days. Foreign tourists' period of stay increased significantly except the 3 day tour package.

For the first time last year, Ulsan City held the Ulsan Tourism Promotion Seminar (twice), conducted a tour guide program (3 times, 66 people) and selected Ulsan's exclusive travel agencies (6 companies).

Also, the City expanded the familiarization tour (20 times, 543 people) to develop a customer-tailored Ulsan tour package.

In particular, it diversified promotion channels for Ulsan tourism using new media platforms.

The aggressive tourism marketing strategy promoting Ulsan's tourism features policies through online contents and platforms such as the 10 episodes web drama, overseas TV programs in Taiwan and Vietnam, Multi Channel Network (MCN) and the city tour promotional videos played the crucial role, according to the City's analysis.

A city official said, "Ulsan City is transforming from an industrial city to a tourist attraction. We will fully utilize our administrative power and the abundant tourism resources the city has to make the tourism industry the city's new main industry."
