(ULSAN=Yonhap News) On May 30, Ulsan city hosted a "Seminar to boost Northern economic cooperation" at Ulsan Lotte Hotel.

The seminar, prepared to discuss measures to boost Ulsan economy through Northern economic cooperation, was participated by about 100 officials from the organizations, companies, and institutions.

The seminar consisted of keynote speech, presentations, and panel discussion.

A professor from the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of Kyungnam University, presented "New Korean Peninsular System and New Northern Economic Cooperation."

It was followed by presentations of "Potential and tasks of energy sector cooperation in new Northern policy," and the "Prospect and cooperative measures in the Russian shipbuilding industry", among others.

During the panel discussion, seven experts shared opinions on how to stimulate cooperation in new Northern economy.

The mayor of Ulsan city said, "Ulsan's policy with regard to new Northern policy is closely related with energy, shipbuilding and petrochemical industries."

Ulsan city proposed to enhance cooperation on oil&gas, North Pole Route, job, and shipbuilding areas with Russia at the "4th Eastern Economic Forum" held in Vladivostok, Russia, last year.
