Ulsan's industry-academia-research came together to boost 3D printing industry

(ULSAN=Yonhap News) On June 10, Ulsan city held a roundtable to boost the 3D printing industry of Ulsan, at Ulsan Techno Park.

The roundtable was attended by those from industry, academia, and research sectors who are leading Ulsan's 3D printing industry-Ulsan city's mayor, Ulsan Techno Park, Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Ulsan University, Hyundai Motors, Hyundai Heavy Industries, among others.

The roundtable has been prepared to seek ways to overcome and re-vitalize the Ulsan industry, faced with downturn, through 3D industry which is regarded as one of the future growth engines.

Ulsan city mayor listened to briefings of 3D printing programs of each entity and their suggestions. Then discussion was followed on 3D printing industry.

Ulsan city is to promptly deal with the matters raised by the companies during the roundtable, and reflect the voices from the field when establishing policies.

Ulsan's 3D printing industry was selected as region's strategic industry in 2015, and has been taken as a basis for manufacturing innovation and growth engine of the next generation.

The world's 3D printing market is expected to grow into KRW 19.5 trillion size by 2020.
