Ulsan city devised a mid-and long-term plan for marine and fishing fields

According to Yonhap News,

(ULSAN=Yonhap News) On June 20, Ulsan city announced that it finished "Comprehensive Plan for Marine and Fishing Development" setting the direction for mid-and long-term development of the oceans and fisheries sector.

The city said that Ulsan Development Institute (UDI) initiated this planning in April last year.

The comprehensive plan aims to advance Ulsan into new global marine city, center of new marine industry, and sustainable coastal city, to realize "Ulsan, which leads Northern economic cooperation, and an energy hub of Northeast" .

To this end, it will implement strategies including: enhance the competitiveness of port and harbor; become a leading city in Northern economic cooperation through energy and logistics connection; build the foundation for high added-value marine tourism; foster new industry through science and technology in the marine and fishing fields; improve settlement conditions of fishing villages; and safe and clean coastal environment.

Specific projects proposed are: build the foundation for eco-friendly smart port; develop into a central city in Northern economic exchange programs; develop marine tourism and leisure contents; turn traditional fishing industry into future-oriented industry; create urban fishing villages; and restore clean coastal ecosystem.
