According to Yonhap News,

The city of Ulsan and the Ulsan ICT Promotion Agency (UIPA) announced that the city government and its co-host successfully opened the fourth round of Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge 2020 (abbr. DfAM 2020, 3D printing design), an open contest which first started in the year 2017, in an attempt to find ways for technology advancements and commercial availability of 3D printing solutions.

Unlike the early stage 3D printing technologies, DfAM(Design for Additive Manufacturing) is changing the game for production process as it allows heated extruders to dispense melted plastic filaments in a bed layer by layer.

There will be three separate courses to be assessed at the contest ▲ free style (creative 3D printing ideas to be readily available for production process), ▲ an open contest 1 (3D printing technology applicable to manufacturing) and ▲an open contest 2 (on-demand 3D printing technologies).

Anyone interested in the technology can take part in. Registration is open until June 12. Those who’ll have been an early round of the assessment process are only qualified to go to the next stage. And the winner of the match will be disclosed at the final round on September 24.
