The city of Busan announced on Apr. 22 that the local authorities were able to secure as much as KRW 1.5 billion with its city level educational project opening AI tech-classes, officially approved by the ICT ministry.
The program mainly aims to help residents get to learn more of AI technology and to scale up the industrial ecosystem by nurturing home-grown specialists.
The program consists of a one (or two) -month short course, open to local entrepreneurs or college students who wish to enhance capacity. Particularly this year, the program is pushed ahead by forming a joint consortium with the city of Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province. The three entities involved herein, reaffirmed the shared goal to produce local AI experts, 190 from Busan city and 150 from Ulsan and Gyeongnam regions.
The program is highly anticipated to lay foundation for educational infrastructure, as a hub producing on-demand AI professionals to work in marine engineering, manufacturing, automobile and chemical industries.
