Ulsan city to break ground to build up KRW 7.5 bln 3D printing quality inspection center
The city of Ulsan announced on Oct 3 a ground breaking work to build up a ‘3D printing quality inspection center’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘center’), which will be located within the Ulsan Techno industry cluster. The center will take the role of quality controller, offering standard quality assessment criteria for evaluating and monitoring products to prevent product defects.
By forming quality monitoring infrastructure, the city expects the center to accelerate the commercial marketing of 3D printing technologies, the city said.
The cost for the construction project is estimated to total KRW 7.5 billion and the center will be established on a 3,219㎡ site with gross area of 2.769㎡ near Nam-gu. Facilitating two separate buildings, one for quality evaluation and the other for testing, the center will be completely set up in November 2021.
Meanwhile, Ulsan city has picked 3D printing service as part of business to be focused a lot on in Dec 2015 to make key sectors bring focus to high growth industries. Under such strategic growth plan, they built up an assembly line and a facility with research resource pool of venture firms.
