Ulsan city announced on July 9 that it established 'Ulsan-Mipo Smart Green Industrial Complex 5-year (2022-2026) Implementation Plan' with an intention to turn Ulsan-Mipo National Industrial Complex into 'Smart Green Industrial Complex.'

Smart Green Industrial Complex will be a venue for manufacturing, with applying digital infrastructure to the existing industrial complex, as well as energy self-sufficiency and environment-friendliness.

There are currently 7 smart green industrial complex in operation nationwide, and Ulsan's was designated in March this year, set to operate from next year.

The five-year implementation plan the city envisioned with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (KICOX) set the vision of 'Smart-Carbon neutral-Safe Industrial Complex.'

The basic strategy is ▲ Digital: Lay the foundation for manufacturing innovation by introducing digital infrastructure utilizing digital-ICT ▲ Green: Low-carbon & high-efficiency energy innovation through green and digital convergence ▲ Human: Create an industrial complex in which young workers are able to aspire to become smart talent.

It has 14 sub-projects such as 'establishment of digital twin-based processing innovation simulation center.'

The total project expense is expected to be KRW 352.3 billion in total.

A city official said "we expect the smart green industrial project is to result in production increase of KRW 300 billion, 1,500 job creation, and reduction of safety accidents."
