According to Yonhap News,

Ulsan City announced on September 7 that it had signed a MOU for the establishment of a supply chain for Ulsan companies and the localization of equipment for the floating offshore wind power project.

The city signed the MOU with the participation of GIG-Total Energy, Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Sejin Heavy Industries, Shinhan Heavy Industries, Ulsan Floating Offshore Wind Power Supply Chain Regional Association, and Korea Wind Power Industry Association in the city hall on September 7.

According to the MOU, participating organizations will make joint efforts to give preferential treatment in employment to those from Ulsan, promote a quota system for local companies when building a supply chain, and localize equipment for offshore wind power generation project.

In addition, they agreed to push for exchange in technical information and use of research facilities, and to cooperate in joint research and development projects related to floating offshore wind power.

They plan to hold meetings on a regular basis to improve cooperation and set specific detailed goals, and set up and operate a working-level consultative body.

Ulsan's mayor said, "The floating offshore wind power project that Ulsan has been pushing forward will surely attract local talent and encourage local companies to participate," adding "we will do our best to set a good example for other private investors who are willing to invest in Ulsan."

The city signed an agreement with a private investor in 2019 and has been going ahead with a floating offshore wind power project to create 6 gigawatt (GW) power generation complex near the Donghae gas field by 2030.
