Jung-gu, Ulsan-si announced on October 8 that it was selected for 2 years in a row in the 'New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Korea Energy Corporation).

The new and renewable energy convergence support project intends to support the installation of two or more types of new and renewable energy facilities, such as solar power and solar heat, in residential, public, and commercial (industrial) buildings in order to build a residents-participating energy self-reliant towns.

For this project, Jung-gu established a coalition (consortium) jointly with Ulsan Metropolitan City and new and renewable energy installation companies, followed by project plan announcement in July.

After evaluations on site, and other procedures, it was finally selected for the project, for two consecutive years.

Jung-gu has been installing 253 solar power facilities and 23 solar thermal power facilities in Hakseong-dong, Seongan-dong, Taehwa-dong, Daun-dong, and Byeongyeong 1-and 2-dongs this year.

Next year, it will invest KRW 1.2 billion to install 195 solar power facilities and 9 solar thermal plants in Bangu-dong, Boksan-dong, Jungang-dong, Ujeong-dong, and Yaksa-dong.

Meanwhile, Jung-gu was previously selected for a 2022 project to expand basis for new and renewable energy.

Building on this, Jung-gu plans to spend KRW 70 million in total to install 18 kW and 23.9 kW solar power facilities on the rooftops of the Youth Street Customer Support Center and Hyoja Silver Nursing Home, respectively.
