According to Yonhap News,

Ulsan-si announced on December 19 that it would promote the 'Regional Leading Industrial Complex Linkage Cooperation Project' with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

This project is for five regions, including Ulsan, Busan, Gyeonggi, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeollabuk-do, that the government selected as 'Industrial Complex Renovation Project Areas' in March this year.

The project period for Ulsan is two years, from next year to 2023, and the total project expense of KRW 1.6 billion (KRW 1.1 billion national funding) will be invested.

The contents of the project include support for the research and development project of 'prototype performance evaluation' to induce early commercialization of promising items in Ulsan's main industries (automobile, shipbuilding, and chemical).

Those to receive support are companies in: Ulsan/Mipo National Industrial Complex, which is the base for industrial complex renovation; Techno Maegok General Industrial Complex, a linked complex; and eco-friendly automobile belt (Jungsan ・ Maegok), a linked region, plus 'San・ San Consortium' with companies in industrial complexes of other cities and counties.

Non-profit organizations such as universities and research institutes can participate as well.

The Ulsan Regional Project Evaluation Group, which is in charge of the project, plans to promote the project in earnest, such ways as selecting target companies through a public contest in January next year and signing an MOU. "
