A promotion group was launched on April 6 to activate the Busan-Ulsan Energy Industry Convergence Complex, which has been designated at 20 square kilometers area around Busan and Ulsan, centering on the nuclear power plant decommissioning industry.

The Busan-Ulsan Energy Industry Convergence Complex, designated in 2020, is to consist of core districts (3.36㎢) including the Radiological Science Industrial Complex, Banryong-Busan New Materials General Industrial Complex, and Energy Convergence General Industrial Complex, and connected districts (16.68㎢) including Onsan National Industrial Complex, Techno General Industrial Complex, and Noksan National Industrial Complex.

The Busan-Ulsan Energy Industry Convergence Complex Promotion Group is planned to old a launching meeting at the Busan City Hall on April 6 and prepare a support system for development of the energy and nuclear power plant decommissioning industries.

In addition, it will discover projects to create a cluster of related industries, foster professional manpower training in connection with universities, and attract businesses.

The promotion group is composed of about 20 related organizations, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Busan-si, Ulsan-si, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP), the Korea Research Institute of Decommissioning, Technopark, regional research institutes and universities, and nuclear-related associations.
